Members are advised that there will be a planned water supply interruption scheduled from 07:00 on Friday, 24 July 2026 until 07:00 on Saturday, 25 July 2026, as communicated by uMngeni-uThukela Water and eThekwini Municipality.
This planned shutdown is required to allow for essential maintenance at the Durban Heights Water Treatment Works, including rehabilitation work on the Nagle Aqueducts 1 and 2, installation of an isolation valve, and the replacement of critical infrastructure.
These works are necessary to improve the reliability and resilience of the bulk water supply system to the City.
As a result, water supply to multiple areas across eThekwini Municipality will be interrupted for approximately 24 hours, including areas supplied via both the Northern and Southern Aqueduct systems, as well as those supplied by Durban Heights Reservoir 1.

Southern Aqueduct Supplied Areas:
Northdene, Queensburgh, Malvern, Chatsworth, Shallcross, Savannah Park, parts of Nagina, KwaSanti, Mawelewele, Welbedacht East and West, Luganda, Inteke, Klaarwater, Montford, Risecliffe, Moorton, Crossmoor, Woodhurst, Arena Park, Umlazi, Nsimbini, Folweni, Golokodo, Westville, Dawncliffe
Durban Heights Reservoir 1 Supplied Areas:
Pinetown, Sarnia, parts of Westville, Westmead, Nazareth, Klaarwater, Moseley Park, Cowies Hill, KwaDabeka, Clermont, Berkshire Downs, New Germany Industrial
Once maintenance is complete, water supply will be restored progressively as the system is recommissioned and reservoirs refill. Recovery times may vary depending on demand and system conditions.
