Collaboration between The Brickworks Management Association and eThekwini Municipality remained important in August, with municipal teams responding to service interruptions and undertaking infrastructure-related works within the precinct.
Water Supply & Lighting Managed
One of the most significant municipal issues in August was a water supply interruption caused when contractors damaged a municipal pipe near the Brickworks main gate. While the incident resulted in temporary disruption to businesses and property owners, the matter was addressed through engagement with the relevant municipal departments to restore services as quickly as possible.
In addition to responding to the water supply interruption, eThekwini Municipality’s electricity department undertook reinstatement works within the estate during the month.
Working with Municipal Stakeholders
The BMA continues to engage regularly with municipal departments to assist in addressing infrastructure issues and minimising the impact of service disruptions on members. During August, key areas of municipal activity included:
- Response to pipe damage at the Brickworks main gate
- Restoration of water services following the interruption
- Electricity department reinstatement works
- Ongoing coordination between municipal teams and precinct management
Although municipal activity during August centred largely on service restoration and reinstatement works, these interventions played an important role in maintaining operational continuity within The Brickworks precinct.
