Seasonal Landscaping and Drainage Care at The Brickworks

Cleaning, Greening & Maintenance

As part of our commitment to keeping The Brickworks precinct in excellent condition, the past month has seen a range of focused cleaning, greening, and maintenance efforts by our dedicated teams on the ground. July’s work was well-timed, with dry weather allowing for progress across key areas of landscaping and infrastructure care.

Quarterly Embankment and Fence Line Grass Cutting

July marked the implementation of our quarterly embankment grass cutting schedule. These large-scale trims are essential to prevent overgrowth along key slopes and edges of the precinct, ensuring visibility, safety, and a well-kept appearance. Fence and boundary lines were also trimmed to maintain clear perimeters and reduce the chance of vegetation encroaching into roadways or service areas.

Garden Updates: New Tree Installation

On the garden maintenance front, Servest completed the installation of four Rauvolfia caffra β€” commonly known as quinine trees β€” in place of previously planted aloes that unfortunately did not survive. The quinine tree is better suited to the local conditions, and their addition enhances the landscaping palette while contributing to long-term sustainability goals.

Stormwater Drain Cleaning

Taking advantage of the recent dry spell, the Idube team focused on cleaning stormwater drains throughout the precinct. Removing built-up litter and debris ensures that drains and inlets remain fully functional ahead of the next rainfall, helping to prevent localised flooding and water pooling.

Manual Weed Control in Verges

Verge maintenance remains a priority, particularly as seasonal growth accelerates. The team has begun targeted weed removal by hand to ensure more effective and thorough control. This hands-on approach allows the team to address root-level growth and maintain tidy edges throughout the precinct.

Looking Ahead

With winter drawing to a close and spring growth on the horizon, regular landscape management and public realm maintenance will continue to ensure The Brickworks remains a well-kept and efficient commercial precinct.
